# Iris Knobloch – Inaugural Lecture of Sciences Po's School of Management

## Description
To open the academic year, students at Sciences Po’s School of Management & Impact attended an inaugural conversation with **Iris Knobloch**, President of the Cannes Film Festival and the first woman to hold this position.  
  
Drawing on her career across law, Warner Bros. and the film industry, she shared a series of reflections on leadership, creativity and career choices in a sector undergoing profound transformation.  
  
She invited students to:

*   trust their instincts and not over-plan their careers,
*   step outside their comfort zone and embrace uncertainty,
*   choose carefully the people they work with, not only the positions they pursue,
*   protect artistic freedom and creative independence,
*   reflect on the impact of AI, technological change and industry concentration on the future of cinema.

Her message was clear: careers are not always built through perfectly planned paths. Curiosity, courage, strong relationships and the ability to remain open to unexpected opportunities can shape the most meaningful turning points.   
  
And one piece of advice stood out: “Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, jump and trust yourself.”
