## Description
For this year’s inaugural lecture, Sciences Po’s School of Research chose to turn the spotlight inward, celebrating four of its own researchers recently awarded prestigious European Research Council grants.

The roundtable brought together **Diane Bolet**, **Julia Cagé**, **Axelle Ferrière** and **Mirna Safi**, who shared their research projects, academic trajectories and reflections on the role of social sciences today.

Their work explores:

* the social and political effects of the green transition and the rise of the radical right,
* voting behaviour and social capital from a historical perspective,
* redistribution, taxation and economic efficiency,
* discrimination and inequality across countries, regions and workplaces.

Beyond presenting their research, the four speakers also shared advice with students beginning their own academic journeys: choose questions that truly matter, remain curious, take intellectual risks, use methods as tools rather than ends in themselves, and stay open to interdisciplinary approaches.

Their message was clear: research is not only about producing knowledge, but also about asking difficult questions, working rigorously with data and preserving the freedom and independence necessary to understand society.

And one piece of advice stood out: “Work on something that matters to you.”
