# Leçon 8 - Israël face aux Palestiniens (1948- 2025)

## Description
As part of the lecture series on the Middle East conflict organised by Sciences Po from October 2024 to April 2025, Mark Tessler (Professor of Political Science and Research Professor at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan) gave the eighth lecture of the series, titled "Israël face aux Palestiniens (1948- 2025)," on Thursday 20 February 2025. The lecture took place in person on the Paris campus from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Boutmy amphitheater.  
  
Mark Tessler is Professor of Political Science and Research Professor at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan.  He is the co-founder and co-Director of the [Arab Barometer Survey project](https://www.arabbarometer.org/), which has conducted scores of public opinion surveys in Arab countries since it was established in 2006. Professor Tessler is also past president of the American Institute for Maghrib Studies and also past president of the Association for Israel Studies.  
  
He is the author or coauthor of sixteen books. These include his 1,000-page volume, _A History of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict_, which has won national awards.  Among his other books are _Public Opinion in the Middle East: Survey Research and the Political Orientations of Ordinary Citizens_ and _Islam and Politics in the Middle East: Explaining the Views of Ordinary Citizens_. His latest book is Social Science Research in the Arab World and Beyond. (may be downloaded free of charge).   
In his lecture he goes back to the way the state of Israel interacted with the Palestinians from 1947 until today. The major key moments of this troubled history will be recalled.
